Waxing during the menstrual cycle and pregnancy

Hormonal Sensitivity and Waxing:

Hormonal changes during your menstrual cycle can make your skin more sensitive, especially just before and during your period. This can make waxing feel more uncomfortable than usual, as higher levels of prostaglandins can increase pain sensitivity.

Best Time to Wax:

Before Your Period: Waxing is generally more uncomfortable in the days leading up to your period due to heightened sensitivity. It's best to avoid scheduling your waxing appointment 3-5 days before your period starts.
During Your Period: It’s still possible to get waxed while menstruating, but it may feel more uncomfortable. If you decide to go ahead with waxing during your period:

  • Communicate openly about any discomfort you may feel.

  • Post-wax care becomes especially important to avoid irritation.

  • Be sure to use a tampon or menstrual cup for hygiene.

After Your Period: The best time to wax is typically 3-5 days after your period ends. At this point, your hormone levels are more balanced, and sensitivity tends to be lower, so you’re likely to experience less pain and irritation.

Important Tips for Waxing During Your Period:

Hygiene: Arrive feeling clean and prepared. If needed, we offer tampons for your convenience. Please use a fresh tampon or menstrual cup to ensure comfort during your waxing session.

Communication: Waxing during your period is completely normal. If you’re feeling especially sensitive, feel free to reschedule your appointment—no problem! We offer a 14-day rescheduling window for menstrual cycle-related adjustments. After 14 days, payment will be taken for the missed appointment.

Post-Wax Care: Be sure to pay extra attention to post-wax care. Visit our aftercare page for helpful tips on soothing your skin, preventing irritation, and avoiding issues like ingrown hairs.

Waxing During Pregnancy:

How Pregnancy Affects Waxing:

During pregnancy, your body goes through several changes that can affect your skin and hair growth:

Increased Sensitivity: Hormonal fluctuations can make your skin more sensitive, meaning waxing may feel more uncomfortable, especially in areas like the bikini line or underarms.

Changes in Hair Growth: Hormonal shifts may cause your hair to grow faster or become thicker, which could mean more frequent waxing. Some areas may also experience darker or thicker hair.

Increased Blood Flow: Pregnancy leads to increased circulation, which can cause swelling or redness after waxing, particularly in the lower body.

Pregnancy Waxing Appointments:

We offer special pregnancy waxing appointments to ensure you’re as comfortable as possible. Extra time is built into the appointment, and we adjust the bed so you’re sitting upright, taking things at a pace that suits you.

Waxing After Childbirth:

C-Section: Wait at least 8 weeks before scheduling intimate waxing, but please avoid waxing over the scar for 6 months, as it can risk damaging the skin.

Tears or Episiotomy: It’s recommended to wait 6 months before getting a full Hollywood wax, though you can consider a bikini wax sooner.
